I am working on a design for a system incorporating 11 SMA inverters. Can I run a single gutter under them and run all the DC in and AC out lines though it?

Yes. All conductors must be part of the PV system [690.4(B)].

Note 690.4(B)(1) thru (4), especially (4). Technically if you have 11 different inverters you are installing 11 different PV systems. You must group and identify the various conductors so that they can be distinguished by each system (i.e. inverter).

I should add that that is all new in the 2011 code.

Definitely.

I recommend a gutter that you punch holes into. Bypassing concentric/eccentric k.o.'s spares you the mind-numbing and dexterity challenging terror that is.... grounding bushings (about 22 in your case).

Good luck!

Thanks for the reference. I have the new codebook but I haven't had time to read 690 all the way through yet.
