I have an electrical project coming up at my house which requires the 50A breaker for my AC unit to be relocated from a sub-panel in the center of my house to another sub-panel on the exterior wall next to my main service panel which is on the opposite side of the house from the AC unit.

The house has a crawl space but the electrician has told me it is extremely difficult to navigate in the crawl space due to low clearance and presence of HVAC ducting. This (through the crawl space) was originally the preferred path of running the Romex from the AC unit to the new breaker.

The house has vaulted ceiling on one side so attic is not an option for the whole run. The electrician has suggested two alternatives: 1) running the Romex in conduit on the roof parallel to my solar panel conduit for about half the length of the house (other half in attic) or 2) running conduit along the back exterior side of the house by the eaves or near the ground.

Aesthetics aside, would one of these options be preferable to the other from a safety or longevity standpoint?
