AC compressor motor - short across aux winding

So I won't get into all the details but I ended up shorting across the aux winding of the outside unit and tried starting 3 times tripping 3 times.

If I were to do this, would it cause damage to the motor??

(This all started when i tried replacing my bad capacitors with new ones and screwed up)

Did you have the Alternate double pole contactor to begin with?


eta: Quickly put it back to the way it was & call the A/C tech. Either leave and let him figure out what the heck happened or watch but keep quiet.
