AC Current Switch

Hello. I've never heard fo this "AC current switch". What is it exactly? I guess it's just wored to the disconnect as called out in the note.

It is just a device that measures current and has a relay contact that opens and closes based on what the current is.

You should be able to Google current switch and find what you need.

I will warn you that most current switches are set up to turn on when it senses a small amount current rather than turn off at a higher level. Just make sure you get what you actually need.
 
I do have another question. They want me to tap the existing 100A disconnect with 4#4's( see note 4). To do a tap within a diconnect would I need to change out the lugs or need to modify anything in the existing switch?
 
They maybe should have called it a current sensing relay? If current goes over/under the setpoint (50 amps in this case) it operates an output contact to control some other item.
