Ac disconnect

I have an 208 3 phase 125 amp breaker feeding a 60 amp ac disconnect on roof top ac unit. I have to remove for a roofer to do some work around unit. Once I put back want to use a 3 phase fused disconnect but I’m unsure about sizing Of disconnect.
I have read through 440.12 but it doesn’t makes sense to have such large breaker before such a small disconnect. shouldn’t it be rated according to breaker then fused down to accommodate the unit which is 50 amps. And yes I’ve considered a new breaker, but just curious about this. This is an existing mess which I’m trying to clean up.

What is the MCA and amps of the unit?
Curious what size wire from the 125 amp breaker?

Nothing wrong with having a feeder larger than need bee. A 125 feeding a 60 is ok just follow the unit nameplate . MCA will tell you the wire size and MCA will tell you the fuse size. An unfused 60 amp disconnect would be a violation.

Honestly name plate is gone. Going off model # on inside and specs I found online.
50 amps max @ 208
