I often see both AC and MC used in open parking garages, under permanent awnings and breeze-ways, beneath over-passes and similar locations. Even though it's not directly exposed to rainwater, I've always thought this was a really questionable practice, just because of the enviroment. How often do you guys do stuff like this, and do you ever have problems with it in the future with corrosion/rust or deterioration of the insulation, etc.?

Thanks.

Re: AC/MC and Damp Locations

The M/C is OK, but the A/C is listed for dry areas. I would not use it or allow it in damp areas, unless there is some listing I haven't seen.

Re: AC/MC and Damp Locations

We have done a lot of parking garages and when they are not RMC they have been wet location MC (MC that looks like LFMC).

I have never seen AC or non plastic covered MC for this use.

But code is minimum, you can run FMC in wet locations if you use wet rated conductors. :( 348.12(1)
