most homeowners just accept the short time lighting flicker when the AC unit first kicks on....one homeowner will not let this go.... any tips other than the "old wives tale" of reposition the breaker....

Sell them a soft starter.

Find out if the VD is at the meter. You will not be able to correct anything if the POCO end is to small.

After that, give them a price to install another feeder direct from meter to A/C. Figure it for .25 volts drop at start. Add $$ for PIA factor.

I have found that most of the time the only solution to this problem is changes on the utility side of the meter. Transformers are often too far away for reasonable voltage drop at the service, especially if overhead service. POCO's size overhead conductors for what they can carry but usually do not consider voltage drop, especially voltage drop for motor starting.
