AC split Unit Disconnecting Switch

I am wondering if it is allowed by the NEC not to install a disconnecting switch for the AC split unit if the split unit is energized from a panel board location in the same room insight with the AC unit itself?.

"In sight from" means the provisions of the Code 440.14

If I remember correctly there is no need for a disconnect for the inside unit as it is part of a package system. The disconnect outside should suffice.

WA state does not require a disconnect for the inside unit on a one or two family dwelling.
