AC stat wire splices

Is a junction box required when making splices in the thermostat wire in an attic? What NEC article covers this? I loooked under class 2 circuits in the NEC and did not find anyhting.

They are class 2, see no reason could not be spliced without a box.

I agree with Jim.

Article 725 regulates T-stats which are a Class 2 circuit.

Class 2 circuit conductors are not required to be spliced in a box.
