etalaat -

A little more information giving us a context would help. The answer to most all of your questions is, "Maybe - it depends on the specific application."

Here is an example, "Can I use an apple instead of an orange?" Sure, if all you are trying to do is get something to eat. Or, No, if you are trying to get something to taste like an orange.

I'm not trying to poke fun at you, I trying to show why you need to give us some of the specific application in order to get better answers

Thats an interesting switch.

You would need to get the actual ratings from the contactor, and see what motor load it is rated to switch at the motor voltage.

You will also need to add some kind of overload protection.

Can i use the AC1 contactor rather than AC3 with derating factor or not:?:

My VDE reference literature suggests that the MANUFACTURER would probably have a 2.7:1 derating with AC3 loads ... what the literature I have actually says is that the PF with AC3 loads is 0.35, and 0.95 with AC1 loads. Other criteria may not be included; the inductive load would also want greater open spacing between contacts; this may be covered in the current derating.

In my experience, the contactor manufacturer gives AC1 through AC4 ratings on their devices. Their ratings would be my answer. Whose contactor, what model, what size?

All contactors may be used for AC1, AC3 and AC4. What etalaat has to do is to consult the manufacturers guide or table and see what is the correct rating for each contactor duty.
