Church parsonage will have toddlers in it soon, so replaced many existing low receptacles with TR outlets.

Professional painter came thru with his airless sprayer and painted all the outlets.

At least with the TR shutters, don't have to replace them due to paint clogged slots.

Not so fast, just had a TR receptacle installed as a temp receptacle, it got heavy coated with paint and TR shutters are now stuck and won't open to let a cord get plugged in.

I get pissed when painters mask the cover plates instead of removing them. It eliminates the purpose of the slop that helps line things up easily, that may not be in the exact same spot as before, and God forbid if you want to change cover plate designs.

It takes less time to remove the cover plate than it does to carefully mask it off, and makes a far better job when you are done.

AND it makes the electrician happy. It amazes me that most painters mask them off, though. Do they think we'll be mad about them taking cover plates off? Are they afraid of getting shocked or of leaving them exposed for a time?

Some painters seem to be a different breed? The TR that I mentioned were painted over HAD the cover plates already removed - guess one needs to remove AND tape before the painters come to be safe ? The painter also painted all the switches also even with covers removed. !

My daughter married into a family of painters. 1) They don't paint over electrical devices. 2) They rarely mask anything - a good painter can cut a straighter line than you can lay tape.

They also rarely get a job by being the low bidder. Most customers are repeat business or new referrals from existing customers..
