I have an owner that wants to add a door into a room that contains a Distribution Panel (See attached).

The Only thing I can think of is that they need to add a cover to the Distribution Panel that is lockable so that the public does not have access to the breakers.

Besides this being in my opinion a bad idea. Is there any code issues that you can think of by adding the door in the location shown.

Thanks,
Ed

There are no code issues here. The NEC does not care if the public can have access to breakers. As long as you retain working clearances, adding a door to a room is not an issue. This would, of course, be the second door, or how else did you get in to take the photo? So what is the story with the existing door?
