Hi,

Am laying laminate flooring to a finished basement that has a concrete floor. I want to extend a line from an existing duplex outlet in a wall to where the couch will be for floor lamps. I believe the existing basement is about 4" thick. I've gotten some conflicting information on the proper process. I was going to cut a channel in the concrete, drop a 1/2" emt from the duplex outlet to the spot, and put a shallow j-box into it. Then fill up the channel on top of it with concrete patch and finish off the top of the j-box with a brass cover plate.

I've seen several j-box/plate combinations where the manufacturers are quite proud of them. Any suggestions on this approach and where to get the j-box/plate combination?

Thanks!
