Hi,
My home has a decades old, 40-circuit Murray main panel, which unfortunately only has somewhere around 20 positions in the neutral bus. This is a problem since this is considered a subpanel as there is a main disconnect upstream near the meter. The grounds and neutrals are separated but the neutral bus has several double-tapped neutrals with no open positions to use to separate them.
My question is, can I add something like this (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Siemens-Insulated-Ground-Bar-Kit-14-Position-ECINSGB14/202315416) to clean up the neutrals? If I have two insulated neutral bars, what is the appropriate way to bond them together?
The only reason I'm concerned is because I just added a subpanel to my detached garage, fed by this main panel, and am planning on having it inspected in a few weeks. I imagine the double-tapped neutrals in the main panel are fair game and could cause me to fail the inspection..?
