I know we cannot install a duplex receptacle face up in a countertop but adorne makes these receptacles that pop out. Why wouldn't that be compliant in a kitchen countertop?

Here is a vid

There are several receptacle outlet assemblies listed for countertop applications that can be installed in compliance with 210.52(C) and 210.52(D). Most employ a "pop-up" type assembly in a fixed housing that is hard-wired into ne of the small-appliance branch-circuits. These products have special features that protect against liquids and other countertop hazards.

Thanks. All the ones I have seen were god awful ugly. The old Mockett style was the best I have seen. I called Mockett and they said they have a TR and GFCI direct wired unit that has been at UL for 6 months. No telling when it will be available.

Here is the style we like but not sure this will be available anymore-- this one is cord and plug and I believe is not made anymore

We have a 25 foot long continuous counter. The home owner wants to build a temp. box and install the receptacles and then remove them after inspection. I told them I would not be a part of that. They actually don't want and receptacles on the entire run.....:happyno:

Have you thought about Plugmold on the underside of the countertop?

Bite your tongue.... :D We have offered everything available . Apparently the uppers are 21" high so it would not be compliant. I could get the inspector - perhaps- to agree but then the issue is the is not a front style(sp) around the cabinet to recess it in. We even talked about recessing the plugmold to no avail. They will have to decide on something soon
