Target your customer. knock on doors

Target your customer. knock on doors

Yellow pages is a good start for service work.
Cold calls to prospective customers is good.
Target your customer. Ask questions. Tell them why you are different, your availability, your responsibility.
When I first started out I did direct mail to property management companies. Sent a card then followed up with a phone call to make sure they got it and how did they send out there work orders? Who was responsible and what terms did they require. Told them about me costs, experience, guarantees. Its all about relationships and people being comfortable when wheeling and dealing.

Its a tough question. We have tried a number of things.
Fliers in the mail box when we first started, maybe 200 and I can think of 1 good customer that came of it.
Mailers to property managers and real estate agents. That yielded a lot of calls from alot of people looking for something for nothing.
Radio, got alot of remarks, but no work, and takes a lot of $$$. I think its effective in making you a household name so to speak if you can keep it going $ wise.
The absolute best by far? do a great job for a fair price, make sure your customers are happy, go out of your way to ask, especialy if you have employees. Get the customers e-mail address and target them directley, ask them to recommend you to freinds, offer discounts or specials.

Branding... GeeHA!

Branding... GeeHA!

Ptonsparky ... what kind of work do you want to pursue? Residential? commercial? institutional? Define what your parameters are then ask yourself who are they and where do I contact them. Go straight to the horses mouth so to speak. If you want to specialize in a certain area then the advertising question will answer itself.

If you are asking about Branding.. then thats a different question.
