I have a 1000 amp 480/277 3 phase service for a building. I'm adding an ATS ahead of the switch board. The available incident energy at the line side of the service disconnect is 80 cal/cm2. Because of this high energy I'd like to have a separate service disconnect ahead of the ATS (as opposed to having a service entrance rated ATS). I also need ground fault protection because the disconnect will be 1000 amps and is more than 150 volts to ground.
A couple questions:
It looks like a pringle switch with built in GFP may be an option. According to Eaton it won't be UL Listed when ordered in a NEMA 3R enclosure. It's been like pulling teeth getting additional details on this switch. What other common options are there for this size and type (GFP) service disconnect?
Should I disconnect the GFP that's already in the switch board when I install the GFP service disconnect up stream of it?
