I believe that I read on the forum some threads that address the testing of a
AFCB using a megger. If this is correct, could someone inform me of the correct procedure? I would appreciate any imput on this subject. I really need detailed information. Thank you.

I am not sure what you are testing. The only true way to test the arc fault breaker is with the button on the cb. If you are having problems with the circuit tripping , then some of us have used a megger to test the wiring but not the arc fault cb.

Yeah, the guy that invented that only lives maybe 20 miles from me. It's basically a toner and probe that musses up the signal when going through a marginal connection. You run around with the probe piece. The thing is supposed to actually "hear" an arc fault?? I honestly don't expect to see it ever on the market.

Thank you, to all you members answering my question. I only used a megger 60 years ago to do insulation testing and grounding systems. This was a long time before AFCBs were ever dreamed of. Thank you all.
