I am looking for help & experience in 1/2 switching bdrm outlets on a AFCI breaker. Can I safely use 3 wire from switch to 1/2 switched outlet? I do know you cannot share a neutral in a afci circuit but is a 1/2 switch sharing a neutral or is it still the same neutral? Thank you.

I've done it hundreds of times, and never had a problem. You can't share a nuetral between 2 circuits: i.e. a multifeed, but you are on the same circuit here.

I agree with John,

On the load side of a single pole AFCI one still has a single circuit. That is, you can have as many switched legs and hots coming off the LOAD side hot as you want; and they can all use a single common LOAD side neutral, or neutrals, connected to the LOAD side neutral of the AFCI.

The AFCI load side neutral has to be kept by itself, that is, it can't connect to or touch the EGC or grounded conductive surfaces, and it can't connect to neutrals of other branch circuits. If either happens, the electronics in the AFCI will understand it as a fault and trip.

FYI, they manufacture a 14-2-2 romex now. It has black, white, red, and a white with a red stripe. We buy it to pull bedroom feeds- 2 circuits, one wire. Not technicaly a multifeed, but a time saver nonetheless. (If you saw how long my helper takes to pull a wire.....):D
