I was looking thru 210 regarding AFCI requirements and I seen many rules for dwelling, dormitory and guest suites but none for commercial. Are AFCIs required in say a clothing store I am stumbling around and could not find a reference.

They are only required in locations where people sleep because it is more difficult to get out of a burning building if the fire starts while the occupants are asleep.

That might make sense if AFCI 's actually worked. Even if they do work, their introduction was so botched no one is going to believe they are actually working so it's just going to get replaced with a regular breaker if it starts tripping...and as long as the bathroom circuit which isn't AFCI isn't passing thru the bedroom wall to get to the bathroom.

Whether they work or not has nothing to do with the reasoning as to why they are required only in occupancies/locations where people sleep.
