AFCI for bedroom lighting

I need some clarification on AFCI circuits in bedrooms. Do recessed can lights in a hard lid ceiling need to be on a AFCI circuit? I have read the code over and over but the definition of an outlet doesnt clarify this question for me.

Yes AFCI protection is required for lighting outlets. A recessed can is a lighting outlet.

Yes, recessed cans in bedrooms must be AFCI protected if the NEC is not amended in your area.

Fans, lights, smoke detectors, receptacles are all examples of outlets requiring AFCI protection

These answers assume 2002 or later NEC. I only mention it because not every jurisdiction is enforcing '02 or later yet.

Also some will say that switches in that bedroom controlling other rooms or outside lights are included.That is debaitable.
