afci for home appliances

I want to know if AFCI is required for washing machine and refrigerators.
If so, would it be required by NEC mandate?
Would there be such possibility that manufacturers install AFCI by their own needs?

Do you, by chance, mean ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) instead of arc fault circuit interrupter (AFCI)?
