I have a odd question. I can't find the answer on the internet. Why is it that you don't AFCI protect the bathroom receptacles, or smoke detectors? I have my theories but wanted a solid answer if I could get one.

because those who manufactured/marketed afci's wished to slowly infiltrate over time

They left just a few places that contractors can plug saws and chargers in without tripping a AFCI:roll:
 
Has there been any official explanation of why they are not required in bathrooms? I agree they did have to ease them in slowly, even though that made no logical sense.

Yes, the official explanation was that these engineers feared their wives having to dry their hair in the morning and having a nuisance trip would bring holy hell!
