I was very interested in the dialogue regarding afci receptacles. One point that no one seemed to mention as a plus point on AFCI recptacles over AFCI breakers in protection of branch circuits and cords in older houses is that in an older house that has been wired with old 3 wire BX ( which is a common in the Washington DC area) AFCI protection is not possible by circuit breakers but would be if there was a AFCI feed through receptacle that could protect selected portions of the circuit. Has anyone else encountered this situation?
