I bought a 5 bedroom home that had a "finished" storage room (9x24) built into the home; I pulled permits and converted that room into a (6th) bedroom by adding AC/heating, a window, closet, smoke detector and an AFCI breaker for the existing electrical outlets as required per the city of Henderson NV.
My question is this.... I find it strange that the city of Henderson NV would require me to add AFCI protection to pre-existing outlets in order to qualify this conversion (and use) of this pre-existing room from a storage room into a bedroom; why would I be required to install an AFCI breaker in the first place, let alone.... AFCI as apposed to a GFCI breaker?
Does anyone know?
