Can an AFCI/RCCB breaker be used in place of a GFCI breaker, say for example near a sink?? A fellow co worker stated there wasn't a need to order GFCI receptacles/breakers because we already had AFCI or RCCB (merlin Gerin) breakers in our load centers. Looked into thru Schneider electrics website, but can't get a good answer. Thanks to all replys.

Short answer: No.

While most AFCI breakers have some degree of GFCI protection built into them, they're not approved for personnel protection.

Anticipating the release of the AFCI receptacle...would a GFCI breaker circuit continued into another location such as a bedroom be required to have an AFCI extended outlet?
