Have an issue with afci protection. We have an existing gen lighting circuit that shares a neutral with disposal circuit. Apartment rehab/remodel. We got called on not arcfaulting the existing lighting circuit since we changed devices even though circuit wasnt touched. We rectified with a 2pole afci breaker which now provides protection for disposal. Any issues "code wise" preventing this? Cant find anything. Reinspection today. Thanks

If this is a multiwire branch circuit then a dp afci will work and is compliant. If you are under the 2011 NEC then you should not need afci for the kitchen lights unless that circuit goes into other areas that req. afci.

Yea lights served other areas. My concern was there anything to prevent the disposal from being on the 2pole afci breaker since that was the neutral being shared i/e a motor on an arcfault. Anywho it passed so were good. Thank u Dennis
