Last I heard is that they are permitted but not required. We're not using them.

We follow whatever the State AHJ adopts as the electrical code. As of right now the State is not convinced that AFCI's have all of the bugs worked out so they do not require them.

Sure we do...but only selected parts.

The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, Division Of Codes and Standards adopted the 2005 NEC with 20 amendments, effective May 1, 2006. The amendments are as follows:

They are usually called amendments.;)

Here in MA we have about 65 amendments to the NEC.

Some more restrictive some less.

It keeps it interesting as I also work in RI and CT, they also have amendments.
