I am working on two bedroom apartments. Each bedroom contains 3 outlet including the half hot and switch. Can I use one AFCI breaker to protect both rooms? What about a studio would they need AFCI.

tackmaster, see NEC 05 art. 210.12 (B) . Studio?? a studio apt.?? If it is a bedroom yes, if not no.

Nothing prohibits powering two bedrooms from the same circuit. But any given circuit powers one or more outlets in a bedroom (and that includes a the bedroom area of a studio apartment), that entire circuit must have AFCI protection. That includes both halves of the switched/unswitched receptacle.
