I have a question about the afci's. are they a dedicated circuit or can they leave the bedroom? those breakers are expensive....if you have a 4 bedroom house, 4 breakers will set you back. can you split 2 breaker between 4 rooms? what is normally done here?

Re: afci's

There are no requirements to serve just a bedroom with an AFCI circuit. You are permitted to pick up any outlet on the way to or from a bedroom. If you want to do it (it is a design issue), you could feed four bedrooms from one AFCI. In my opinion, that would be a very poor design. :D

Re: afci's

My understanding is that any outlet in any bedroom must have AFCI protection. How you organize your circuits to meet this requirement is up to you. Bedroom circuits can be mixed with other circuits as long as you don't violate the rules for circuits in bathrooms, kitchens, laundry areas, and other "restricted" locations.
