I have a service to put on a lean-to type building. There are two stalls for horses and a tack room. Looking at 547.1(A) it calls for dust-proof fittings and boxes. I'm looking at wiring this with UF, a few outlets and a light or two, would this fitting be considered compliant with this requirement?

Thanks for looking

Edited for better photo

I do hope your not planing on any romex near the horses

I'm not planning on electric near the horses except lights high above. The UF is going to run along the roof rafters to the light(s) then anything down low will be in conduit, protected from physical damage.

I was thinking that anything listed as water tight may also be dust-proof. I'll look into this further.

The fitting will be fine. It's watertight/weatherproof, so it's more than dustproof enough for your situation.

Be sure to sleeve the UF in sched 40 if it gets anywhere near the horsie area. Or better yet, don't run the cable anywhere near them.

I've only wired two horse lean-tos. After I saw them in their natural state with farm-related crap strewn everywhere (piles of metal siding, tractor implements, lord-knows-what hanging from every available stud, the occasional draft horse, etc) I decided to run their circuits entirely in sched 40 just for that extra measure of mechanical protection. :O

I've seen the damage to RMC done by a horse during a lightning storm. Stay away from areas where they can be damaged by an excited horse (if at all possible).

I dont think even pvc sleeving would be enough anywhere near a horse.I only did one.It was a como horse stalls, barn, farm equipment and his vet buisness office to treat animals.Wasnt fun to comply to all of them

Thanks for all of the input and views for this job.

UF will be used only at a minimum. Conduit, Sch 80, will be used most. Electric in the stalls, if any, will be minimal and protected by the walls. I'll try to get some photos to share.

Thank you again.
