AHJ considering

Our AHJ is considering to add local amendment installing a battery back up at dental chair or all location where surgical procedures are done. The reason when dentist is drilling or surgical procedure done you and lights go out can harm the person.



I would like to know your opinion about the above and also the following:
1. Is there any AHJ that you know added something like the above?

2. Is it in NEC 2017 Article 2023 anywhere?

There is already a requirement if the chairs are in an area classified as an Anesthetizing Location see 517.63

If not he/she should leave it to the medical personnel to decide if it's necessary.

Thanks. They are considering to add battery powered lights in areas where dental chairs with or without anesthetizing locations.
