I am messing around with the AIC calculator under the free stuff. I was wondering the spread sheet gives you a fault current for line to neutral and line to line. What does the equipment have to be rated for the higher of the two?

AIC is a performance rating of an OCPD, it is not something you can calculate. But the OCPD does have to have an AIC rating higher than your highest availble fault current at that point in the system, keep in mind there may also be motor contribution to consider.
