Would it be acceptable to feed a series rated panelboard of one manufacturer from a breaker in another manufacturers switchboard as long as the the panelboard has a main breaker with an AIC rating the same or higher than the breaker feeding from the switchboard?

Re: AIC Ratings

If the panelboard is series rated between the main breaker and branches, then that panelboard takes on that rating. That panelboard series rating must be greater than the calculated fault current at that panelboard. That panelboard can be fed by anything upstream that is also properly rated compared to the calculated fault current at the upstream location, no matter what the manufacturer is.
