need your help
custumer needs to install 26 electric units air conditioning / heater in a hotel , one per room, each unit uses at full load about 14amp. doing my math if all units working at the same time the totaal amps are 364amp
this hotel is feed only by a 200amps service, so i need to upgrade the service, my question is what will be my service size?

Need to know more...

What voltage are the new units?

What voltage is the service?

Is the service single or 3 phase?

What is the existing load on the service?

There are no shortcuts. You must do an article 220 calculation on the entire building to determine the present load and then add the load for these units to determine the proper service size. Anything else is just a guess. One person may tell you that 400-amps is plenty, and another that you need a 1000-amp service minimum. Both of these recomendations are worthless until you perform the calculation. If the owner has good records of energy useage you may use them for the present load but you still must perform the calculation for the additional load. Service calculations are part of every Master Electrician examination that I have ever heard of, why do electricians try to avoid ever performing them?

you are right there are not short cuts
but the owner does not want to spend a lot of money
i was thinking in request for a second 200amp service and run the new load from it
