Hi - I'm looking for a little help. As part of a kitchen renovation I replaced an oven that was wired with 8-3 AL commected to a CU pigtail from the oven. The connection was made in a junction box with an AL split bolt with a spacer bar. I remade the connection the same way using new AL split bolts.
My building inspector tells me that this is no longer acceptable per the NEC. He wants me to replace the cable run. Is he correct.

Re: AL-CU connection

Ask for a code reference. Its acceptable as long as connector is listed for a combination of AL and CU conductors.

Re: AL-CU connection

Small town with one building/electrical/plumbing inspector.
His problem with the split bolts is the different compression of AL and CU. We resolved the issue by using AL Betts splicers that use separate tightening screws for each conductor.
