I am putting all new receptacles in an older house with all Aluminum wiring. I know they make purple wire nuts for Al/Cu connections. Can i use anti-oxidant on the joints and use a red wire nut or is there a special compound in the purple wire nuts that i need to use?

I was suspect you are subjecting yourself to unwanted liability if you used anything other than a product designed for the application.

Use Alumiconns. Much better than the purple Ideal wire nuts. And no, you cannot use regular wire nuts and no-alox. Factor in time to replace small boxes that are overfilled, or will be impossibly filled with those connectors installed.

The problem with aluminum to Copper is the different rates of contraction and expansion, not corrosion.

I believe you can still find devices rated for aluminum wiring, although the selection will be limited and they will be expensive compared to normal products

No good... They're not TR. even if they were, they're $3 versus a dollar 19 for a regular 15 amp TR receptacle

1) Here's one. That means this is an example.

2) Have you priced Alumiconns? Have you considered the extra labor to install Alumiconns and stuff them in a smallish box? I'd say the receptacles are much cheaper.

I was aware that your link was an example... I am not aware of any TR receptacles though that are rated for aluminum wire. and yes I'm aware that Aluma cons are a little over $3 a piece same as the purple wire nuts. fixing aluminum wiring properly is neither cheap nor quick. The biggest cost is usually replacing the boxes, which are too small to fit either the purple wire nuts or alumiconns into
