I was curious if anyone has used or has an opinion on the Alumiconn wiring connector. It would be a large savings over the use of the Copalum system.

More info on Alumiconn is at http://www.alumiconn.com/

I know we have a lot of inspectors on board here. Do any of you have any recommendations? The manufacrurer claims the units to be U.L. listed. Does the CPSC have any recommendations on these connectors?

It goes without saying that a complete rewiring with copper conductors is the best approach to this problem. But, we all also realize that the consumer will usually go down the easiest road.

If it is listed for the purpose I don't see any issue.

Of course Tyco will probably wine and dine some more CPSC folks and get them to bad mouth these as well.

Jeff you're probably right about a tight fit. However, if you were, let's say, pigtailing two Al's and one Cu and use stranded for the Cu conductor it would help.

I'd sure hate to see box extensions. But, that may be what would be needed.

That is not that bad an idea when the other option is a total rewire. :)

A ivory wiremold extension box is not that ugly and takes paint well.

Bob, we use those 5751 Wiremold extensions a lot. They don't look bad to me either, but they say "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and many will consider them as ugly as warts.

No doubt. :)

Of course when they look at it it is out in the open, once all the furniture is in place they would mostly be hidden or at least not as obvious.
