All about fluorescent lighting...?

Is there a good resource out there that I can use to learn all about fluorescent lighting? i.e., different bulb types, ballasts, matching bulbs to ballasts, how to know that a ballast is failed (that it's not just the wrong bulb).....and everything else.

In the Advance data 480Sparky posts, the Philips North America media contact is mentioned. See if Philips still has the 'Guide to Fluorescent Lamps' available for technical data and charts
on everything you may want to know about characteristics and manufacturing of fluorescent and HID lamping. The book is very thorough on the physics and theory of lamp functions, lobe patterns, phosphur coatings for different color outputs, etc. Hope this helps. rbj
