Yup the connectors correct, and I guess it’s that simple. Idky we always do it this way for hospital grade work.

So let me ask you this, what’s the hazard if any to wrapping it around? Is it a big deal or he’s just getting us because he can

I have heard of people wrapping like you did and it very well may not be dangerous but the instructions say cut it flush. If that is the way that UL tested it then that is the only approved method.

Thanks to the guys here to educate. Not just looking for a reason to talk stuff.

We try not to. There may be an issue with proper fit in the connector, but probably not. However, loo at it this way instead, it takes probably 10-15 seconds less to do it per the manufacturers instruction so just train your guys and don't buck the system. The first time I used MCAP the inspector had a fit. I had to get every single piece of instruction and all he could say was, he would check every box for grounding and make me tear out the entire building if he found one that was bad. I think we call them jerks.

I would check with the manufacturer of the connector and see if they allow the wrapping method. I would never waste the time to wrap that aluminum bond wire when it can simply be cut off. According to the instructions posted it is not required to be cut off.

Wrapping was ok for the #16 aluminum bonding strip in AC cable not so much for the #10 aluminum in the MC cable.

Good point because the smaller bonding wire won't interfere with the connector. Personally I've never understood the point of wrapping, even on AC cable a simple fold over will hold the anti-short bushing.

I don't think the inspector has grounds (pun not intended) to fail it. Yes the instructions say to cut it flush but also say that it can be terminated in the box. I agree though that it would be faster to cut it off but I see no reason to fail it just because it is wrapped around since you are allowed per instructions to terminate in the box.

i really hope it was'nt a thousand already made up boxes...otherwise seems it could of been fixed quickly enough wjile he was looking at other things. sorry drywall guys- can you just cover up one side of walls for another day?
