I have some people who like to crimp the conductors into the circuit breaker or other electrical equipment. But people want to save money. If they do not crimp, they save moeny. Can i just shove the conductor into the hole and tighten the bolt or allen screw instead of crimping ? Is this OK by UL or code? Will the strands spread out or not make any contact if screw it tight? Any chance of overheating or few strands to carry a lot of current?
thanks

Yes to all.

Of course the terminal must be used within it's size rating and the must be listed for use with AL if AL is being used.

What do you mean by crimping? Crimping on a sleeve, or a terminal of some sort? There have been times I wish I had something better than bare strands in a lug terminal.

Larry I assumed he was talking about 'pin adapters'
