Am I reading this question correctly? Load calculation.

I don't know if this is a mistake or am I missing something in the question?

A multifamily apartment building contains 20 units and each unit has 840 sq ft of living space. What is the general lighting service calculated load for the multifamily building if laundry facilities are provided on the premises for all tenants and no laundry circuit is installed in each unit?
a. 45 kVA
b. 35 kVA
c. 41 kVA
d. 63 kVA

41 kVA is the total calculated load, but I thought they were asking for the general lighting service calculated load which is 20 kVA.

You are omitting the small appliance circuit loads, which should be included in your calculated totals. See section 220.52(A) which includes the following:

...These loads shall be permitted to be included with the general lighting load and subjected to the demand factors provided in table 220.42...

Oh. So the exception for the laundry circuit should've been my clue to look at 220.52. And I thought they were trying to trick me! :grin:

Why not just not just ask for the total calculated load? That's what confuses me...
