What was the purpose of creating two new tables for ambient correction factors one at 30degC. and one at 40degC. Tables such as Table 310.15(B)(2)(a) and 310.15(B)(2)(b) in the 2011NEC.
Whereas in the 2008NEC the correction factor tables where at the bottom of Tables 310.16 & 310.17

The purpose was to remove the redundant tables at the bottom of each ampacity table. It also expanded the temperature correction tables to add more lines. This actually can be a benefit as the expansion now allows the use of more multipliers that add to the allowable ampacity at lower temperatures.

There were correction factors at the bottom of many tables in the 2008 code. Some of the correction factors were based on 30?C and others on 40?C. With the new code, these correction factors only apper once and you apply the one that is correct for the conductors you are using.
