How is ambient temperature change calculated?I'm trying to determine if an expansion fitting is required for a run of RNC.Is there a formula,or is it simply the differece between daily temp.changes?seasonal changes?

Frank,I understand that temperature change influences the tabular amount of expansion/contraction,but how is the change derived?

GDF, Total temp change, summer is 100deg winter is -20deg, total 120deg

temp. change or 4.87" per 100'. Just to be sure, this is an exposed run correct?

If it is underground expansion fittings are normally not used.
