Hello. I've having some issues reguarding how many opennings you could put on a circuit. My company says I can only have 10 opennings for lighting. What I've been doing is using the wattage of the light bulbs being used and dividing by 120v which would give me my power or amps being used. Im I correct by doing this? Im doing alot of big custom builds and some of the kitchens will have 8-15 recessed cans 3-8 undercabinet light fixtures, 20w-35w. and recessed bulbs have been 65w. What is your opinion?:-?

The code does not say anything about the number of lighting outlets allowed on a circuit.

220.14(D) requires us to calculate lighting outlets at the maximum rating of the fixtures and lamps.

Install a recessed fixture that can take a 150 watt lamp and you must figure it at 150 even if you plan on using 75 watt lamps.

Many guys have rules of thumb they like to go by, and maybe it works out for them. I like to add up real watts. If something like cans has multiple lamp options, do my math with the largest permissible lamp considered, as the code seems to require.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info. I guess I was right to a certain degree. Completely did a fly by on figureing lamps on max use. I'll make the course change and keep on stepping. But thanks. DJ
