I have read lots of posts and forums and I'm still pretty unclear how exactly to tackle the dimming. I was hoping I could just post my situation and someone could tell me exactly which cable to run. Im gonna post a lot of detail because I don't know what might be relevant. I just added shop lights to my garage (5 fixtures) and Id like to take advantage of the dimmers. I already have 14/2 from the breaker to the switch and from the switch to the lights. Id like to just add the 0-10v cable. It will run from the J-box with the switch up through the insulated wall with the romex and through the attic, that will be later insulated, and then finish inside the fixtures that is operating as the J-box. I feel like Ive seen some info that says I need to use something shielded and rated for class 1 circuits. Ive seen some things that say thermostat wire will be fine. But I need what is most likely to pass inspection. Id really prefer to avoid adding conduit or raceway. I was going to use the southwire duo but my online order never shipped. and I wanted the light to keep on woodworking so i wired em up with just the romex i had on hand.
