For a residential stationary generator, what is the distance requirement to the nearest operable window or door, and how is that measurement made? Is it along the wall, along a straight line nearest corner to corner, etc?

I think Generac recommends 5' measured from any point on the generator to the corner of the window. However, I've had situations where that wasn't feasible. So, rather than installing the generator parallel to the house I turned it 90 degrees and faced the exhaust away from the house. Got approval from the EI before I did it though.

So far, I'm seeing 18" from house and 5' from openings. If there is a foundation vent within, should it be sealed?
