Okay so it's been a while since I worked on a elevator and I've been trying to refresh by searching the forum but here is my understanding on how I should be desiging a typical hydraulic elevator to carry the costs. Can anyone sanity check me? :) I'm on 2005 NEC.

1. Feeders should be at least 1.25 your Rated Motor Current. 1.4 for continuous duty rating. Or you can even derate it lower from table 430.22(E)
2. Breaker Size should be at max 2.5 your Rated Motor Current but should be greater than the bare bones 1.25 that you would size the feeders for starting inrush currents avoiding nuisance tripping. Reference to 430.52
3. Fused Disconnect in Motor Room should be sized at 1.75 Rated Motor Current. Reference to 430.52
4. Breaker/Disc. are allowed to be larger in this case because elevator controller takes care of overload situation.

Thanks to all.
