*ANOTHER* question..... your favorite wire tracer.......

there's a thread on here from 6 years ago, on wire tracers, and i'm
gonna buy one tomorrow... the one i have is good, but not suited
for the task i need it for... i am favoring the Amprobe AT-4005CON,
but there is another one that appears to be a clone, the Ideal 61-958.

anyone here have experience with either of these, good or bad?
i gotta get one tomorrow, and collectively you guys are lots smarter
than i am, so what do ya think?

i need something i can clamp around a conductor where there is no
continuity, and trace it inside a conduit.....

I have the Ideal 61-954 and love it. Its abviously not the 958 but it works great and I use it all the time

I have the 958. Have had it for about a year. Got it for $250 on craigslist.

I haven't used it as much as I would like, but I've generally liked what I've seen.

The supply house I deal with a lot has a 958 that they will rent. If you are a regular customer they ether charge you $70.00 or put $70.00 on your account. When you bring it back and every thing is good you get $50.00 back.
