Lately I have had some strange ones.

Had a job today, 6 mains all 480/277 VAC above 1000 amps these supposedly were tested twice before. Last contractor (3rd test) found 4 of the GFP?s did not work. We were hired to trouble shoot and repair as necessary.

1. One main switch from the factory equipped with GFP, no shunt on the switch FROM THE FACTORY, wiring in place, but not connected to anything.
2. Three switches in one switchboard, go to test and only one works on GFP, Found factory wring missing from 2 of the GFPs to the trip coil. But after repairs we go to test and a GFP trip on one trips all three.
3. Under Voltage was installed from the factory to open all three mains but the controls were improperly wired.
4. Installed control relay to isolated UV from GFP and tested all switches for operation from UV relay and GFP relay.

Long and short of it there were some major issues from the factory and no way this system was ever tested with satisfactory results questioning the documentation on the front of the switchboards. Warranty long expired.

Well i know he hates GE and I know he likes SQ D so if it is a strange one I would think that it is sq just because it is a strange one. I will lay 9/5 it is sqd. I am also shocked because I love sqd equipment. I have seen thier techs milk a job resetting breaker trips from min to medium at probably 300 an hour if you include airfare. They say they ship all equipment at min settings for safety. At least thats what they told me.

All manufacturs I know of ship OCP set at minimum. Actually this is a mixture of equipment Pringle (pre-Eaton) and an American owned company.
